Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Sociology

The Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for Full/Associate/Assistant Professor.
The Department of Sociology, which offers Bachelor, Master, and PhD programmes in sociology and criminology, has a productive and diverse faculty drawn from many parts of the world, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Netherlands, and the United States. We have a strong research portfolio focusing on China and Macao societies, drug use and abuse, delinquency and crime, political sociology, genetics-environment interaction and adolescent well-being.
Appointment may be at the Full, Associate or Assistant Professor rank, depending on qualifications. Applicants must have completed the PhD program by the start date of appointment, and must have a scholarly record of research, or demonstrate high research potential. Applicants should also have teaching experience, or be able to demonstrate teaching effectiveness. Areas of specialization are open, but preference may be given to applicants with research and teaching expertise in sociological theory, family, education, political sociology, urban studies.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2019.
Position and Remuneration
Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
