The Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Teaching Fellow.

The Centre for Japanese Studies (CJS) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is seeking ONE qualified individual for an anticipated position as ‘Teaching Fellow’. The purpose of the teaching fellow program is to provide recent Master’s degree graduates in Japanese studies (or closely related field) with: a) full-time teaching experience; b) the opportunity to work with faculty and the Centre for Japanese Studies on special projects in an area of professional interest or expertise and c) engagement in language and cultural exchange.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have a recent Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Japanese Linguistics, Japanese Literature, Japanese Education, Japanese History or Japanese Culture) from an accredited program and some experience and/or qualifications in teaching Japanese language to non-native students. Applicants should have their degree in hand upon application.
The successful candidates also need to possess excellent organizational abilities, communication skills, and leadership qualities. Ability to speak Chinese (Putonghua or Cantonese) may be an advantage, but more important are abilities to work well with a multicultural staff and desire to learn and explore Macao culture.  The candidate should also be willing to provide out-of-class activities to students in Japanese as required.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2019.

Position and Remuneration
Teaching Fellow’s taxable salary is ranging from MOP20,480 to MOP28,670 (USD1 approx. =MOP8) per month and to be determined according to the appointee’s academic qualifications, current position, and professional experience.
Teaching duty is required.
*10-month appointment with possibility of a second 10-month contract upon mutual agreement.
